After seeing some ads on
After seeing some ads on TV lately, I decided I was long overdue to investigate what’s new in the cell market (afterall, I average a new phone every year). What really inspired the search was actually Nokia’s incompetence. They have a TV ad that advertises the Nokia 7210 (a good ad, really, a guy is trying to find a toilet in China and gets his girlfriend to send him a pic of a toiletbowl). Anywho, the end of the ad shows “nokia.com/us“. If you go and look at that site, you’ll note the phone is conveniently missing from the site (at least as of this writing). In fact, it’s shown on the main Nokia site that it’s available in Europe and Asia. Astounding marketing techniques.
The POINT however, is that there’s a lot of cool new phones out there. The highest profile is probably the Danger Hiptop, aka T-mobile Sidekick. Very cool phone, with PDA, phone, e-mail, web browser.
But the phone is black and white. And it’s a massive phone. Unlike say, this Sony Ericsson phone which has full colour, a stylus for the PDA, an MP3 player and best of all, it uses a memory stick. Oh and it has a built in camera instead of the addon camera that the Sidekick uses.
The Nokia 3650 looks really slick. Not as many features but the aesthetics are better.
