London Hockey Commentators
I watched the Ottawa Senators vs NY Islanders live on TV … in London. It was very strange yet fascinating for a number of reasons:
1. I’m watching hockey at 1:15am. I felt like I was trying to catch a World Cup game.
2. They only have one game on each week so they cover all the week’s highlights during the show. Makes a nice consumable package for me.
3. One of the hosts of the show reminded me of American commentary during the World Cup … i.e., completely clueless. It was funny as hell though. He was reading stats and name pronounciations from a book he claimed was the bible of hockey.
4. The co-host who actually knew something talked hockey, but it’s strange to hear terms like “power play” with a british accent.
5. The co-host wore a sweatshirt that said “Roots 73″. Very cool!
Anyways, it was a good game even though it ended in a tie. I kept rooting for Alfredsson to score since I have him on a couple of fantasy leagues. No dice. But Peca the hypocrite got ejected for clipping Chara much the same way he got clipped by Tucker.
