Pumpkin Carving

fbc72048.jpg.orig

Lately, I haven’t really been doing much for Halloween and this year was going to be the same but somehow, I doing a fair bit. Tuesday, I had a few people over for pumpkin carving. Nothing like pumpkin carving or pottery painting to bring out the closet artists. Everytime I do one of these things, I’m amazed at how talented everyone is, and how little they use their talents. Here’s some pictures.

My favourite is definitely Jon Hardy’s Che Guevara. Until a couple of years ago, I didn’t even know shaving down the skin was a viable pumpkin carving technique. You get more options doing it that way and if you carve deep enough, it lights up really well. I did the Calvin pumpkin, initially believed to be impossible. A nice tiny saw did the trick tho and I’m pretty happy with it.

Went to a party at my complex the night after, then went downtown to see the costume parade on Halloween night (followed by obligatory late night snacks and helping random drunk lady get a cab home) and on Friday, went to a costume day of the dead party. The theme was to dress up as someone dead or you wish was dead. I went as Kenny from Southpark. I’ll post some pics soon.

Speaking of pictures, I totally neglected to mention that my awesome friends threw me a surprise party/water fight a couple of weekends ago. Jean, our official photographer, diligently chronicled the whole thing on digital media for your viewing pleasure.
I’m old.
