My home page is set to My Yahoo! where a news headline is shown. Today, everytime I opened the browser, the Rhode Island Club Blaze article stared back at me.
Two things struck me. First, the Staten Island refinery fire was always secondary news. Granted, there are far more deaths in the club fire but the refinery fire, in a macro scale of things, would seem to be more severe. Second, it was sad to find that every time I opened a new browser, the headline read the same, except with a higher death toll number. R.I. Night Club Fire Kills at Least 40 … 63 … 86 … 95 … and at the time of this writing, “May Top 100″.
