Flat in London

My coworker and I have placed a holding deposit on an apartment in Earl’s Court. We work out from the Hatton Cross station so it’s quite convenient. The most convenient you can get, in fact without paying 140GPB per month for a tube pass and without taking an hour commute. The place is quite posh with a lot of amenities (especially for London standards) – glassware, sofa bed in living room, pots n pans, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, tv … evne a phone and radio in the bathroom(!). It’s on the top floor, fair sized and well lit. So now everyone has a place to crash when they come visit me =)

It’s an extended stay for work. Trilogy/BA will cover the majority of the rent. In order to live somewhere closer to town, my roommate and I are willing to put in a little bit of our own money.

I don’t know where you heard that UK pay is pretty good but you couldn’t be further from the truth. UK’s cost of living is higher than even NYC, the pay is maybe around Canada’s and the taxes are similar, too. US is still one of the best places to work if we’re talking pure dollar, especially when you work in a state with no state tax.
