Mac to School Special

In a couple of months, I will no longer be an employee of Trilogy. When that happens, I will also be without the benefits of their T30 laptop, a benefit I’ve been enjoying recently. Now I already own a year old PC desktop of reasonable speed (P4 1.1 GHz I believe) but I am still thinking about getting a laptop for school. Anyone have thoughts on what? I’m primarily deciding (a) whether to buy a laptop at all and (b) what laptop. A 12″ Mac powerbook has crossed my mind but I feel like a new incarnation of it will be on the market just after I buy one.

By the way, if you haven’t noticed, you can now add your e-mail address to a mailing list one the left. Put your e-mail in and I promise to sell your addresses to advertisers. Either that or I’ll just keep them private and send you a link whenever I update the blog. Don’t wet your pants, I know you’ve been waiting for the moment when you would actually receive regular e-mail from me. Even if it’s from my automated blog and not me.

Why do you need another laptop ON TOP of the decent one you already own?

Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough. I don’t own any laptop. Trilogy owns many laptop. I happen to be in posession of two of them but neither will be with me when I leave.

Oops my mistake — I read “desktop” to be “laptop”.

12″ powerbook is nice but I would wait out for 15″ to be updated. With the G5 tower about to be shipped, 12″ G4 isn’t worth what they used to be. I think the current lineup will either be discounted or updated soon enough. Since you can afford to wait, I say way it out :)

You definitely will want a laptop; I kind of wish I had one now, but it’s not THAT big of a deal for me, since I just use mine as a porn– uh … file — server. :-)

Plus, a lot of the laptops out there can be purchased with some kind of accessory so it perches on a stand like a regular LCD monitor. Tablet-style laptops, I think.

Just pull the trigger, man. Something new is always on the horizon, but if you keep waiting for the next thing, all you end up with is nothing.

Oh, if we sign up on your list, will we get more junk mail? I really don’t get enough spam offering to increase my penis size while losing body fat and graduating from mailorder education!

i’m not sure how serious your question was ben but i don’t believe the maillist system in MT is accessible by any bots to grab your address. so no, it won’t get distributed.

Except intentionally, of course.

You bumped this thread just to say that? =) When I get over 10 readers on my maillist, I’ll think about selling them. Fortunately, RSS has negated the need for a maillist for most of my readers.

until now, i didn’t know comment spam was really a problem.
