Movies in the Past Few Months

I am way way behind in movie reviews. Those that know me, I watch a lot of movies that span a really wide range of genres. My view is that movie reviews from “critics” try to hard with word play, spoil movie plotlines and endings and generally differ in opinion from me.

Personally, I prefer to hear how my friends feel about movies because I know their tastes and can better judge how accurately their views reflect onto mine. Hence, these mini reviews.

So anywho, I have a ton of movies I’ve seen but rather than try to catch up on all of them, I’ll list some here and you can mention if you want to know what I thought of it or add a movie title because chances are, I’ve seen it, I just forgot to mention it.

Some of the movies I’m only just seeing on video so they’re a bit old, others are old because I DID see the ma long time ago but just thought about them and thought I’d mention them:

… and way too many others to list here. Also watching Matrix: Revolutions tomorrow. Finally. My expectations are set suitably low.

“Bend It Like Beckham” was an interesting movie, I found. In fact, after watching that and “The Guru”, I’ve recently gotten my hands on “Monsoon Wedding” and “American Desi”, which I’ve heard are also of Indian cultural rooting. (Okay, “The Guru” is less about the culture, and just plain entertaining.) I hope those next two will be as much a pleasure to watch!

“Where’s the Party Yaar?” and “Bollywood/Hollywood” are also good ones to catch. I also saw Bombay Dreams the musical recently and enjoyed that. Worth the half price TKTS ticket but not the full admission.

I actually did not enjoy “Finding Nemo” as opposed to most of my friends. Wasn’t really that funny to me. Saw one good movie over the holidays though — “Whale Rider”.
