Playoff Scenarios

And so it comes to this. Canucks win today and we break Colorado’s division title streak after handing them a new record 9th straight last year but if Edmonton loses, the 6th and last Canadian team won’t make the playoffs. Tomorrow, Nashville plays Colorado and it’s another strange case because if Colorado wins, they can win division unless we also win today whereas if Nashville win, Edmonton will still likely not make it.

So the ideal scenario I think is this: Edmonton wins today in OT. Vancouver is one point away from clinching. Nashville wins over both St. Louis and Colorado so Edmonton gets placed over St. Louis as 8th seed whilst Nashville makes 7th.

Sure, no problem. Riiight. I’d feel more at ease if we just won today. I want all six Canadian teams in the playoffs but I’m still bitter about us losing the Rocket Richard, the scoring title AND the division all in the last game and all to Colorado.

Well, I guess we don’t have to worry about losing everything to Colorado, but too bad about Edmonton not making the playoffs, though. :( But, realistically, we’d probably make it further anyway, so let’s consider it an extra boost (by ranking us higher in the division), thanks to Edmonton. They’re about as West Coast as we are, anyway. :)
