My Thoughts in Six Months Time
from gabriel jeffrey (whom I had the pleasure of meeting at SxSW):
I handed in my manuscript last night. To say it was a relief would be like saying that poop sex is kind of nasty. Nose spray is a relief. Setting a bag down is a relief. Handing in a manuscript is more like smuggling drugs across several borders, finally pulling the balloon out of your butt and getting in a hot tub.
If I manage to get around to finishing a sample chapter AND getting it approved, maybe I can start the smuggling. Perhaps it’s like Captain Koons of Pulp Fiction …
Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of disentary, he gave me the watch. I hid with uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.
