Top 5 Cities

In High Fidelity, John Cusack makes top 5 lists of everything from his breakups to best motion picture soundtracks. Here are my top 5 cities to move to following London in no particular order:

The noticeable omissions are Hong Kong, which was excluded because of a lack of career opportunities for both of us and Austin which is a dead end in terms of interior design for Kathryn.

Tokyo and New York are not “settling” candidates but are places Kathryn and I may not mind trying for a year or two. Also, San Fran is really much broader. For me personally, I’d consider any of the Bay area, San Diego, Santa Monica, etc.

It is indeed sad for Hong Kong that you perceive, correctly, that Hong Kong has a lack of career opportunities, at least in the HCI field. Ironically, I am actually looking for that resource for a project I’m working on, there’s an HCI consulting company based in Hong Kong that I was going to ask for your feedback on: http://www.apogeehk.com.

Anyway .. congratulations on finishing your masters, and best of luck in the future. Give me a shout when you are in Hong Kong for New Years.

Oh you know we’re going to have a comment in all of this. Oh yes. We insist you come to the Bay area. It isn’t even a point of discussion. Get on a plane, watch the flight attendant to their little dance, and come see us. Right now. Why haven’t you left yet? Are you still reading this? Come on!

I second Heather’s comments! And there are plenty of opportunities for both you and Kat here! What are you waiting for?!? :)

Seriously though, while you guys are still young enough to enjoy living in places like NYC and Tokyo, why not give it a try?

I’ve been buried under several metric tons of stuff, but I’ll get back in touch as soon as it’s over (a few weeks or so).
