Hey Kevin,

I’m helping Socheata Poeuv the Director and Producer of New Year Baby with Development and Event Fundraising of the film. New Year Baby received a small grant from NAATA..but we have a long way to go and need another 400K to finish the film. So.. the faster we raise the money, the quicker the footage can be edited and finished. I really don’t yet know a lot about the world of filmmaking but I’m learning and I’m fascinated with the process.

The first fundraising event will be April 20th @ White Rabbit in NY. We’re going to hold it the same week as Cambodian New Year’s Day which is when Socheata was born. It was also on that day last year that her father told Socheata that her siblings weren’t really who she thought they were. She says, “I am making NEW YEAR BABY to bridge the divide between survivors of the genocide and the second generation born as part of a new life and oblivious to the old one.”
