Good Night, and Good Luck

Is it just me or is George Clooney finding a fair bit of diversity in his roles lately? I’ve never been a fan of his but he’s definitely put himself in some great films, first Syriana and now this … and he directed it to boot! Like the movie Network, Good Night, and Good Luck covers media’s role in society in the past and yet has eerie relevance today. Substitute “communist” for “terrorist” and the network to “Fox News” and you’re done. Did I mention Robert Downey Jr. is an awesome actor? [imdb link]

There’s actually a more interesting connecting thread between both of those films than just Clooney: both films are productions of Participant Productions, a production studio focused on promoting social awareness and change through films. They’re the same guys behind “An Inconvenient Truth” and the forthcoming movie adaptation of “Fast Food Nation”.
