Tales of travel and misadventure
Sometimes, somebody at work shows up wearing something he/she rarely wears. Maybe it’s an old T-shirt or a sweater from years back that hasn’t seen light in a few months at least. “Laundry day,” they’d explain. All the regular clothes were in the hamper or the wash and this was all that was left. Y’know [...]
We’ve filled in the gaps and it’s now looking like a bit of a whirlwind until March. I’ll be updating the map later:
Dec 22 - Dec 24 : Brussels, Belgium Jan 07 - Jan 09 : Rome, Italy Jan 11 - Jan 24 : Spain and Portugal Jan 30 - Feb 06 : Vancouver, Canada Feb 07 - Feb [...]
Yesterday, I flew into San Francisco International (SFO) from London Heathrow (LHR). As usual, I had an interesting time with the US Immigration but for once, it’s not about their lack of training or the paranoia that now engulfs American culture made explicit by the fingerprint scanners or digital cameras at each desk.
No, this time, [...]
November 6-8 : Berlin December : Brussels January : Undetermined Backpacking (Suggestions?) January 30-February 7 : Vancouver February 7-February 26 : Hong Kong February 26-March 8 : Vancouver March 8-? : San Francisco
Much of this is subject to change but there it is in case you cared.
Several travel related news. Firstly, I am flying out to NYC and Boston tomorrow. Primarily to attend Jared Spool and co’s User Interface 9 Conference for which we did the promotional comic for but also to meet my east coast friends and family, old and new. Until I started planning the trip, I had no [...]
A small album of a day trip we took to Bath. Bath is a small town about 2 hours train outside of London. Named after the Roman baths built there during Roman occupation, it still maintains a lot of its heritage. I actually considered doing my masters there and was accepted but in the end, [...]
I just returned from CHI in Vienna, Austria last week, which is probably the largest conference for the industry that I work in. OK/Cancel and going back to school has made me realize how little I knew of the industry as a whole so this experience was very different from the last CHI I went [...]
We went to Prague in January. Prague is a common movie setting for a dark and sinister backdrop. The place is unique in that it’s the most scenic when it’s cold and foggy. The architecture just lends itself to the gloominess and creates a compelling atmosphere.
Kathryn talks about the trip in much better detail than [...]
Alright, so I finally caved in and made my travel map. This is subject to quite a few additions this year, though.
[ Update: This was created with World66. You do NOT need to register. In fact, when you register, you don't even see the US States feature. Just go to "My World66" tab without logging [...]
I swear more than half my posts are travel related.
Next weekend, Kathryn and I are going to visit Prague. We’ve heard it’s a beautiful historic place and is especially scenic (though cold) in the winter. It’s the setting for xXx so that’s enough for me! Plus, lastminute.com had some really cheap getaways.
I have also confirmed [...]
